Day 2
The day started out by going to the cardiac clinic/heart center where Dad had his treadmill stress test. His stress was greatly reduced in the waiting room. Sitting close to us was a large man drinking a cup of coffee. Shortly, he grabbed a small white sack and pulled out a very large glazed donut covered with chocolate frosting. As he proceeded to eat it....in the lobby of the cardiac clinic, mind you, Dad and I sat in our chairs and stared straight ahead because we didn't DARE to look at each other. When I finally did look over, Dad had a big smile on his face, but was still looking straight ahead. So I lost it & started laughing. Dad tried real hard to not get the giggles, but finally succumbed. Oh, it was great entertainment! I mean really - I don't want to judge anyone that's going through procedures here at the med center - but a greasy frosted donut in the heart center.....damn! So the bottom line today is that all the consent forms were signed and Dad was given the final go ahead to be on track for the stem cell transplant....so he is one happy camper...as we all are! So he has tomorrow off and then on Thursday they start the neupogen shots to start the stem cells moving into the bloodstream. Those shots will be daily until the harvesting begins...and that is on Monday. So we're on schedule and Dad's rarin' to go! We took a nice walk today outside and that was nice to get some fresh air. I took a picture of the transplant center today, but I'm too tired tonight to figure out how to download it onto this laptop. Hopefully I'll be able to figure it out tomorrow morning sometime and can post the picture then.

Sorry everyone...for some reason this computer is not picking up on my paragraphs. I don't really mean to ramble on with one large paragraph for a post, but the formatting is a little haywire I guess...because I have been separating the paragraphs as I type them in.
ReplyDeleteI guess we can forgive your errors for now because you have more important issues at hand. Glad to hear that everything is going forward and soon it will be behind you guys! Keep forging ahead.
ReplyDeleteWhat's your plans for the day off?
ReplyDeleteTwo of my WONDERFUL friends, Deb and Lynn, from Lincoln, are taking time off of work and their busy schedules to drive up to Omaha and get together over a cup of coffee. They wanted to give me a break before I'm on round-the-clock duty coming up soon. I'm really looking forward to their visit...they are two very special people! Leo is taking it easy here at our home-away-from-home aka Laura & John's. He's just enjoying NOT being in the hospital setting all day long. He's infatuated with Laura and John's very big HD tv...so that will keep him busy all day! We had a nice leisurely breakfast this morning and it's just nice not to have every minute of your day occupied with appointments.
ReplyDeleteGreat news!!! Good luck, I am thinkin and prayin for you everyday....Love , Lou Ann
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day off, you deserve it!
ReplyDeleteWe'll be praying for both of you for sure.
